One-day training workshop on Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

The Directorate General Law & Human Rights, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with @unwomen and @shirkat.gah , national NGO with the support of Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany,Islamabad successfully organized one-day training workshop on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) for junior-level police officers/officials in Peshawar.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of police officials in effectively responding to and preventing GBV cases through a survivor-centered and rights-based approach. Around 25 police officers/officials actively participated in the training.
The session covered key themes including understanding gender and GBV in policing, the role of police in prevention and response, constitutional rights of citizens, coordination with relevant departments and Pakistan’s international human rights commitments. During the session, Mr. Ghulam Ali, Director General Law & Human Rights KP, comprehensively explained the international, national and provincial human rights frameworks, highlighting Pakistan’s obligations under UN conventions as well as the legal and institutional mechanisms in place within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Ms. Aneela Naz, AIG Human Rights, also attended the workshop and shared valuable insights. The training concluded with certificate distribution by Mr. Ghulam Ali, Director General Law & Human Rights KP, along with Ms. Aneela Naz and former Ombudsperson Ms. Rukhsanda Naz.
The Directorate remains committed to strengthening institutional capacity and promoting gender-sensitive policing for the protection of human rights across the province.
