Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG)
EVAWG Policy Consultative Meeting
Committee Room of the Law Department
A consultative meeting regarding the proposed Policy on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) was held today in the Committee Room of the Law Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.The meeting was attended by representatives of all key stakeholders including the Labour Department, Health Department, Planning & Development Department, Local Government Department, Elementary & Secondary Education Department, Higher Education Department, Social Welfare Department, Home & Tribal Affairs Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Prison Department, Directorate General Prosecution, Directorate General Law & Human Rights KP, Ombudsperson Secretariat KP, UN Women, Ministry of Human Rights and the Provincial Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the meeting, DG law&HR identified certain gaps in the draft policy and proposed a number of recommendations and amendments aimed at strengthening the policy framework for the prevention of violence and protection of women and girls against all forms of abuse and discrimination. It was also shared that the Law Department had already furnished detailed input and recommendations to the Ministry of Human Rights for incorporation into the national policy framework.
The participants held detailed deliberations on institutional coordination, legal and policy measures, service delivery mechanisms, awareness initiatives and protection systems required for effective implementation of EVAWG-related interventions in the province.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to coordinated and collaborative institutional efforts for the promotion and protection of women’s rights and for strengthening prevention, protection, redressal and response mechanisms relating to violence against women and girls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
