The Directorate General Law and Human Rights, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with Blue Veins, successfully organized an Orientation Session on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Non-Governmental Organisations Registration (Working in the field of Human Rights) Rules, 2024 today at Shelton House, Abdara Road, Peshawar.The session aimed to enhance the understanding of local and international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working in the field of human rights regarding the new registration procedures, compliance requirements and the regulatory framework introduced under the recently notified Rules.
Mr. Ghulam Ali, Director General Law and Human Rights, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the objectives, significance and implementation mechanism of the Rules. He underscored the Government’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and coordination within the NGO sector for the effective promotion and protection of human rights in the province.He further emphasized the need for strong collaboration and partnership between the Government and NGOs to advance the shared mission of protecting the rights of marginalized and vulnerable communities.He noted that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken the lead in human rights legislation and institutional development, demonstrating its resolve to uplift the underprivileged segments of society.
Mr. Muhammad Saqib, Assistant Director (Treaty Implementation Cell), Mr. Muhammad Haroon, Assistant Director (IT) and Mr. Maqsood Ali, Director Law and Human Rights, briefed the participants on the procedural aspects, documentation requirements and compliance mechanisms under the new framework.
Special appreciation was extended to Mr. Qamar Naseem, representing Blue Veins, for his active collaboration and support in organizing the session.
More than 50 prominent NGOs and INGOs, including SRSP, UNDP and others, participated in the event. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, allowing participants to seek clarifications on various aspects of the Rules.The Directorate General Law and Human Rights looks forward to continued engagement with the NGO community to ensure effective implementation of the KP NGOs Registration Rules, 2024 and to further the collective goal of promoting and protecting human rights across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
